"At that day ye shall ask in My name, and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you. For the Father Himself Loves you, because ye have loved Me, and have believed that I came out from God." John 16:26-27
Take another minute to reread today’s verse, and really let it soak in. Just imagine for a moment how special you are to God because of your love for Jesus Christ. We are reminded of how powerful love is when we see someone who has no need to love our children, parents, spouses, friends, or even pets; yet, elects to love them, simply because we love them. It prompts us to love our beloved even more; because, they love those we love, without exception. If you have ever watched someone express love to someone you love, it brings a depth of emotion; a feeling I call, extension-cord-love. I recall an elder in our church speaking about the moment he really knew he had made the right decision to marry his wife.
“During my father illness, I went to my father’s bedroom to check on him; however, I only reached as far as the hall. From my vantage point in the hall, unbeknown to my wife who was already in the room, I watched, as my wife tenderly took care of my father, a man she barely knew, with the kind of love and attention that bought a well of emotion to my heart...”
As he told the story, his voice crackling from the memory, I remember thinking about an extension cord, or more precise, extension-cord-love. It is the kind of love that transcends from one person to the next, simply because of a connection to someone else. For certain, it is the kind of love within the human relationship spectrum, which extends our love so we remain connected one to another.
It is the original connection to the love power source that dispenses the power to the extension cord. If there is no original love to begin with—no connection to the source, the extension cord has no power, no juice, —no current. It simply sits on the floor waiting for someone to plug it into the main power source. On the contrary, if we are connected, the flow of love easily moves from the main power source through the extension cord. We can imagine that God extends His love to us more abundantly, because of our love for His son, Jesus Christ and His infinitely extraordinary love for us. As long as we are connected to Jesus Christ, our connection to the source of all Love and Power is infinitely secure. --The question is, are you plugged in? L.
